Buckle Those Chinstraps!
This is just a reminder that the best show on television, Friday Night Lights, kicks off season two Friday night.

If you're not up to speed, you can watch all of season one on NBC's website, and Bravo is running a marathon all day Friday. Even if you haven't watched it yet, you can start with the new season and you'll still love it. I promise it's worth it.

Entrapment
I think I have a mouse in the house. I recently noticed the tell-tale (or is it tell-tail?) sign of a bag of chips that had been breached. Apparently the mouse likes Doritos. I haven't noticed droppings or obvious nests or chewed things. But I know I didn't gnaw straight through the bag to get my nacho cheese fix.

So I went and got a trap. I decided to try a non-traditional method. That is, I didn't want poison because I didn't want the mouse to crawl off and die in the walls and smell bad forever. And I figured there had to be something better than the old fashioned wooden spring trap. So I got some of these. Maybe the mouse will think it's a chip-clip and think there are more chips to be had. So far no hits, but also no other sightings of rodentine invasion.

Still, I'm bummed I couldn't obtain the contraption from my all-time favorite "Tom & Jerry" cartoon:

Manic Monday
I think First Monday is probably my favorite holiday I don't get a day off of work for. Everybody in the world is writing about it, and it seems like this could be a very interesting term. I promise I'm working on some other stuff. I haven't given up on blogging; I've just been really busy and haven't had anything tickling my itch to write.

But anyway, you can consider this a Supreme Court open thread, or an all-request post if you want to hear my thoughts on anything SCOTUS-related. We'll see how that works. Happy First Monday!

John McCain shares his thoughts on "the Islam." Maybe he can learn more by using "the Google."
